Introducing: The Albishorn Marinagraph — An 'Imagined Vintage' Watch Combining The Best Of A Skin Diver and Regatta Timer What We Know Summer might be winding down, but Albishorn (a brand whose entire ethos is designed around imagining vintage watches that never existed) thinks there's still enough time to head out on the water. Whether to race in a sailing regatta or strap on fins and grab the snorkel to go diving, the new Albishorn Marinagraph covers both bases. This is a two-in-one watch that draws inspiration from vintage skin diver design and features a creative interpretation of the 10-minute countdown function of a regatta timer. The new Albishorn Marinagraph is available in two colors: "Classic Racing," featuring a sunburst black dial with applied silver indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova, and "Paraíba Racing," which has a Sunburst Paraíba tourmaline green dial and applied black indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova. The dial and h...

Introducing: Breitling Launches Two New NFL Team Watches With Deal To Be Official Timepiece Partner Of League What We Know Are you ready for some football watches? Swiss watchmaker Breitling secured a deal to be the official timepiece partner of the National Football League, the biggest and most successful professional sports league in the world. The new multi-year accord, which expands on a licensing agreement unveiled in 2024 , means officially licensed watches made by Breitling for fans to show support for their favorite NFL team with two new models for each team as well as league-branded marketing and advertising in boutiques across the U.S. It's a significant business move for the Swiss brand to win the watchmaking rights for what's become the world's the richest professional sports league. Ming Debuts their Fifth Generation Design Language with the 57.04 Iris

Image
Ming Debuts their Fifth Generation Design Language with the 57.04 Iris It comes up, somehow, in almost every article you read about Ming: they have an incredibly distinct design language all their own. How many times have you read something like, “you can spot a Ming from across the room!” I admit, we’re as guilty as anyone. But it’s undeniable that the look of these watches defines them, and that they’ve landed on something with that flying blade lug design that is both easily identifiable and well suited to building a supremely comfortable case. It’s something that’s always been there, but has slowly evolved over the course of Ming’s still relatively short history. Today, the brand announces the new 57.04 Iris, the first watch in what the brand terms as their fifth generation design. It’s at once both a radical departure from previous Ming designs, and very much related to all that’s come before.  The new 57.04 is influenced rather unapologetically by Art Deco design cues, ...

Bring a Loupe: Buy This, Not That: Vintage Movado

Image
Bring a Loupe: Buy This, Not That: Vintage Movado Happy Friday, and welcome back to Bring A Loupe! This week is all about Movado. Why Movado? Just over a year ago, shortly after I joined the Hodinkee Editorial team, we published an In-Depth story on vintage Movado wristwatches . After a decade of collecting the brand, I consider this article a crowning achievement of my editorial "career." For just as long, I've been a reader of Hodinkee (then an employee, then an editor), and seeing my favorite underappreciated vintage brand receive the proper Hodinkee treatment was the ultimate full-circle moment — even if I had to pen the article myself. I've featured many a Movado in Bring A Loupe since, but today's edition serves as a proper follow-up. Why now? Well, there's no time like the present, I guess. The format will be similar to what you know and love from this column, with a twist. For each pick, I'll present one watch worth buying and at least one that ...
